2 months

My little man is two months old already!
  • He weighs 8lbs 9oz and is 21.5 inches long (I just looked back at Lily's 2 month post and she weighed 8lbs 9oz too. Crazy!)
  • He eats about 4.5 oz of goat milk or breastmilk every three hours during the day.
I'm sure you're wondering about the breastmilk. When Levi was in the hospital, a dear friend of my sister's overnighted a ton of frozen breastmilk for him because all the wonderful antibodies would help him with healing. Then a sweet friend from church offered to pump the extra she has for Levi too! It is such a blessing!

  • Levi has started sucking on his fingers.
  • He takes about 4 naps during the day, and sleeps from about 10:30ish-5:30ish at night. Of course his hospital stay wacked out his good night time sleeping, but we're slowly getting back into our routine.
  • After a rough week in the hospital with RSV, Pneumonia, a kidney infection, and dehydration, he is finally getting back to his happy little self. He still has a lot of congestion and the doctor said it could take awhile for it to completely go away. He's having a procedure tomorrow to check for kidney reflux since babies his age don't usually get kidney infections. It's been so hard to see him sick and having so many medical issues, but God is using the trials to build our faith in great ways. His ways are perfect!
  • Levi is in size 1 diapers and is still wearing newborn size clothes.
  • He usually likes tummy time, and he's rolled over once.
  • He's started smiling alot more.
  • Levi is usually only fussy when he's tired, hungry or needs a diaper change.
  • He loves snuggling!
I just love this little man!

Yes, We're Alive...Just Recovering

So sorry I haven't blogged all week. We have just been so busy recovering from a week in the hospital.

Levi had a doctor's appointment on Monday to schedule an ultrasound of his kidneys - follow up from the kidney infection he got last week. He is doing pretty good - still having lots of congestion, coughing/choking fits. It's so sad to see him still struggling! The doctor said it just takes a long time to get over RSV and Pneumonia.

Lily has been the sweetest "little mama" to her sick brother. She pats him on the back and gives him lots of kisses.

Of course she is very sweet to share her toys as well! Ha!

Levi doesn't seem to mind having the toys piled on!
We are just so thankful to be at home! Thank you all again for your prayers!

Update

FB status and picture from yesterday {2/16/11} - Thank you all for your continued prayers for Levi! Praise the Lord he is doing much better today!! He's drinking lots more and won't have to get the IV again. Please continue to pray that the fluid will clear out of his lungs and that he will soon be able to breathe on his own. He has to be off the oxygen 24 hours before we can go home.

FB status and picture from today {2/17/11} - Please keep praying. Levi's chest xray showed that the pneumonia has multiplied, so he has to go back on IV fluids and antibiotics. :-(

My sister is updating my shop's fb page for me since I have very limited internet. Here's the link if you'd like to check it out

Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement. You all are such a blessing to me!!

Kidney Infection

Sorry for just posting facebook status updates - we have very limited internet access at the hospital. I was so happy Lily got to come visit. She's been staying with my mom and Jacob's mom - we miss her soo much!!

Update: His breathing is improving. We found out today that he has a kidney infection. His IV got clogged and had to be removed. If his levels are ok in the morning they won't do another IV. PLEASE pray that he will be able to drink his bottles - he's only had 5oz in the last 12 hours and he's got to have more than that to avoid another IV! Thank you all for your prayers and support! We love you!

Update on Levi

It's been a pretty emotional day. Below are my facebook updates from today. Thank you all for your sweet comments and prayers. I am so thankful for each one of you!

10:00am - Levi is still really lethargic, and breathing fast. Dr. thinks it's bronchiolitis along with the RSV. He seems worse today, but they say that's how RSV does. He will hopefully get off the IV later today. Thank you for your prayers. Psalm 46:1

6:00pm - He has pneumonia, is on oxygen, and is still dehydrated (still on IV). We will be in the hospital at least 2-3 more days. Thank you so much for your prayers for our very sick little guy!

Asking you...

to pray for my baby boy.

He was admitted to the hospital this evening with RSV and dehydration. He is a very sick little guy. Jacob and I would appreciate your prayers as well - it's incredibly hard to see your baby like this.

I will do my best to keep you posted.

Life This Week...

... is full of wiping snotty noses, snuggling, a tired mama, lots of fluids, {sometimes} grouchy babies, hugs, kisses, staying at home, fevers, and general miserableness. Yes, my babies have bad colds. It's so hard seeing them sick!

Weekend Review

Our "weekend" started on Thursday night by going to Panera for supper. We usually eat out on Friday nights, but since Jacob had a concert this weekend (with a rehearsal on Friday night) we decided to go out Thursday night. Levi slept the whole time and Lily did great eating and keeping herself occupied by looking/waving at all the other people enjoying their supper. She makes new friends everywhere we go! Ha!

Jacob was pretty much gone all day Saturday. I cleaned the house and then decided that Lily and I would make sugar cookies. They were a huge fail. Let's just say...they turned out more like dog biscuits than soft sugar cookies like the recipe promised. Ha. Oh well, at least Lily and I had fun and she enjoyed licking her first beater. Don't judge me, please! :o)

We had a great Sunday! It was so good to worship our Savior and fellowship with our dear church family. God has truly blessed us!

Pigtails

I always had my hair in pigtails when I was little, so I was super excited the other day when I was able to get Lily's hair into little pigtails!

I just think they are so cute! Of course it's kind of a struggle to get them in...I think she inherited my tender head. Poor girl! I do my best to keep her distracted, but she still wiggles and squirms like none other. I'm certainly learning how to be super fast with those itty bitty hairbands!

Someone gave us the set of Your Baby Can Read dvds, so Lily's been watching the starter one for the last week or so. She does pretty good trying to say each word and do the hand motions (i.e. clap, wave, reach, etc).

Have any of you ever used the Your Baby Can Read program? Did it seem to work? Honestly I don't really care if it teaches her to read or not, I'm just thankful that it keeps her occupied for 20 minutes each day. Ha!

WW: Little Guy

I love this little guy!

13 months

It's so hard to believe my little girl is 13 months old! After having Levi, Lily seems so big and grown up. Some days I have to remind myself that she's really still a baby too!

She is a great big sister...usually. ha! At times she gets a little rough with Levi and seems to forget that he's not as big as she is.

She has turned into a great little helper, which is such a blessing for me! She's able to do little tasks like getting a clean diaper for Levi, taking things to the trash, picking up her toys, etc.

Lily is still taking two naps each day and sleeping 12 hours at night! She's wearing size 3 diapers and 12-18 month clothes.

She loves playing outside, which we got to do a lot of this past weekend! She also loves going shopping, whether it's grocery shopping or just walking at the mall, she loves getting out of the house.

She makes me smile everyday with the cute things she says and does. I just love her to death!
