My Girl.

Just want to share a few things about Lily that I don't want to forget.

Lily is growing up way too fast. Sometimes I feel guilty that she's had to grow up faster because she has two little brothers. I do my best to not have unreasonable expectations and to remember that she's only 2 and practically still a baby herself.

She is goofy.

She loves to help me bake, but always has to lick the beaters or bowl.

When we tell her to smile for a picture she does this cheesy grin.

She loves helping with Asher...but she can go from being gentle and kind to being too rough in a matter of a second or two. I have to constantly be watching.

Reading is by far her favorite thing to do.

She does well saying her letters and numbers (1-20).
She's memorized Ephesians 6:1, Genesis 1:1, and part of Psalm 23.

She's really gotten into picking out her own clothes and shoes.

She is finally able to sleep better after the awful cockroach experience. She will still wake up scared sometimes in the middle of the night but she'll go right back to sleep when we rock her.

I think she's growing. Lately she is always hungry.
She still eats pretty much everything we put in front of her...except spicy food.

She is compassionate.

She is quick to ask for forgiveness when she's done wrong.

It seems like she is always singing. She was thrilled to get a cd player for her room! Thank you, Sarah!!

She will make anything into a musical instrument to play while she sings.

Her favorite song right now is "Standing on the Promises." We picked it for her during the singspiration at church a few weeks ago - in between two of the stanzas, she hollered out "louder!' We couldn't help but crack up! That's what she always says in the van when we are listening to music.

She is very much into imaginative play and dress-up. She will occupy herself for the longest time playing "momma" with her baby dolls, or "walking in the forrest" like Goldilocks or Little Red Riding Hood (by walking across the pillows at the head of our bed).

Lily can be very stubborn and strong-willed at times. We pray for guidance and grace as we seek to teach her to use those qualities for God's glory.

We thank the Lord everyday for this sweet girl!

17 months (and eye update)

Sweet handsome man!
My precious first born boy is growing up so fast! He is learning new things everyday.

Gotta love the baby toes and crossed ankles!

Levi had an eye appointment last week. It was a long appointment where his eyes were checked and then dilated and then checked again. I was really proud of how brave Levi was! He sat pretty still so the doctor could look in his eyes. Yes, he squirmed, but we didn't have to hold him down like last time. The doctor was able to see a stigmatism's in both eyes, so she ordered a new prescription for lenses. We are also down to patching his "good" eye for 2 hours a day instead of 3. The doctor said that as bad as Levi's optic nerves look, he shouldn't see much, if anything...but obviously he is seeing amazingly well! So thankful for this miracle!

Levi loves exploring and examining new things.

Playing in Daddy's shoes.

Levi loves to read! He will sit and look at books by himself for a long time, and he will sit and listen while we read to him. He still loves Brown Bear, Brown Bear, Hop on Pop, and all of the My First Board Books.

Levi is definitely more of a climber than Lily (and I thought Lily was bad!). In the last week I've found him on top of the stove, on the counter, on a chair trying to open the front door, and using his chair to climb onto our bed, and to get stuff off our dressers. He seriously pulls his little blue chair around the house with him to help him reach anything he decides he wants! He will also push our tall bar stools around the kitchen to climb on - that's how he got on the stove. This child is crazy!

Of course he still loves playing outside! The water table is his favorite outdoor activity - he will play with it for the longest time! He's not too much into the sprinkler or sand box yet.

"hmm, I wonder if I can reach that dirty knife?"

His appetite has come back for the most part. Although he still isn't a fan of fruit besides bananas and applesauce. We have smoothies every morning for breakfast, so he typically drinks his daily amount of fruit.

He is very much into putting things into containers, dumping them out, and doing it all over again.

How I love this sweet, stubborn, loud, funny, crazy boy!

2 months.

Asher turned 2 months old 2 weeks ago. Yep, I've totally lost my mind and didn't even remember his 2 month birthday until the next day!

It seems like our sweet little man is constantly changing and growing!
  • He weighs 10lbs and has feet nearly as long as his brother's.
  • He takes a 6oz bottle every 3 hours during the day and has been sleeping about 7 1/2 hours straight at night.
  • He naps well during the day - most of the time he sleeps in the co-sleeper beside our bed, but sometimes he falls asleep in the nap nanny or carseat and he sleep fine even with all the noise in the house.
  • We love his sweet smiles!
  • He's not a fan of tummy time.
  • He has started hitting at the toys hanging above him on his play mat.
  • He likes chewing on his fingers.
  • He blows bubbles alot.
  • He really only fusses if he needs something - diaper change, bottle, or sleep.
  • He wears size 1 diapers and newborn and 0-3 month clothes.
I stole this picture from my sis :-)
  • I've been wearing him when we go to the grocery store. He does great in the wrap!
  • He does well on car trips and stroller rides.
  • He is so observant and alert.
Love this sweet boy!
