Major fail.

Tonight I had the biggest cooking fail of my life. I was in the process of making Cauliflower Pizza with my two little helpers. The crust had baked (at 450 degrees!) and we had just gotten all the toppings on.

As I was making sure the kids were away from the hot oven, I picked up the scorching pizza stone without oven mitts! I dropped it upside down in the oven and my yelps of pain brought Jacob running from the bonus room where he was teaching!

I started bawling my eyes out realizing that our supper was nearly ruined and Jacob had to eat and leave for the evening in 10 minutes.
Lily pipes up just at that moment and admonishes, "Mama, you wasted our supper!" LOL

Oh, and my fingers? They are blistered! Ouchy!

One good thing is that the oven already needed to be cleaned. :)

This wasn't the only cooking fail this week - Last night, I pulled some leftover roast out of the freezer to make beef stew. It smell delicious simmering on the stove all afternoon. Sadly I didn't realize until I was dishing it up that it was full of bones - big bones and minuscule bones. I guess in my sleep deprived state after Asher was born, I didn't realize when I put it in the freezer that it had all the bones still there.

Ah-hmm...I think my problem is being distracted and trying to multitask too much. I must work on this!

Reading.

We spend so much time reading everyday. I'm so glad Lily and Levi love books!
Levi's favorite right now is The Happy Man and His Dump Truck.

Lily loves Curious George, Clifford, Dr. Seuss, nursery rhymes...everything, really.

Asher likes to chew on toys and listen to the stories. :)

Fleeting.

I have been thinking so much lately about how quickly life is speeding by. I can't slow life down, but I can slow down and enjoy my life more. For me, this means less time for blogging and Facebook, and more time spent playing with my babes and keeping up with my house (I'm not a stickler about cleaning, but I like to stay on top of it).

The other day we broke out the finger paints. SO messy but so fun! Levi didn't really understand the whole "painting" idea. He just enjoyed the feeling of the paint between his chubby fingers. Lily used so much paint, it took several days to dry. Ha!

This week has been busy and fun. On Monday, our babysitter (she's not just a babysitter, but a sweet friend of mine too) went shopping with me and the kids to look for flower girl and bridesmaids stuff. She and I both found shoes (yay!) and I think I found the shoes I'm getting Lily. We walked around the mall, had lunch at 5 Guys, delivered a meal to a friend, and went to Hobby Lobby. The kids did great, although they all (Levi specifically) had their moments of difficulty.

Our library books were due today so we headed there this morning. It's always an adventure taking three littles places by myself! They did very well today holding hands while crossing the parking lot, being quiet in the library, and not running around like wild indians! We loaded up on about 20 new books - mainly Curious George, Clifford, and Eric Carle books.

I'm working on making quiet books for the kids for Christmas. It is such a fun project, but so time consuming! Can't wait to show them to y'all when I get them done! :)

Midweek Randoms.

I started this post on Sunday and it was going to be all about our weekend. Since it is now Wednesday, I thought I would just make it a random post. :)

We went out for a family frozen yogurt date on Friday night. So fun and so yummy!

My sister-in-law got engaged a week and a half ago! So excited for her! She's getting married at the beginning of November..eeeek! So much planning, so little time! Jacob's helping with the music, Lily is going to be a flower girl and I'm thrilled to get to be a bridesmaid! Our babysitter is also in the wedding, so I've got to figure out childcare for the boys.

Lily and Levi are playing so well together these days. They love playing house, hide and seek, etc. Such a fun stage!

The weather here in Alabama has been amazing the last week or so! We have been outside so much. The kids love playing on their swing set and with our dog, Roo.

My brother-in-law's fiancé is here visiting this week. My kids just adore their Uncle Joe and Audrey! :)

Speaking of weddings, I don't think I've mentioned on here about how crazy our lives are going to be in March of next year - Joe and Audrey are getting married one weekend in Indiana and then the very next weekend my bro and his fiancé are getting married in South Carolina! I start breaking out in hives just thinking about it! LOL Traveling with three little ones two weekends in a row, with the time change thrown in there, Jacob not being able to go to my bro's wedding because of a concert he's contracted to play in, and me being a bridesmaid in one wedding. Total insanity!! :)

Lily loves playing with my youngest brother. He even plays dolls with her sometimes!

I was so proud of Lily yesterday. One wise friend of mine said to just wait until children are closer to three to take away their paci's. Lily has been so attached to hers - but only getting it at naptime and bedtime for over a year now. Well, yesterday, out of the blue she said that she was a big girl now and was going to throw her paci in the trash can. She did and hasn't asked about it since! Can't believe how much my baby girl is growing up!

The kids are starting to wake up from naps now, so I'd better get this published. Hope y'all are having an awesome week!!

Video: Levi "singing"

Levi has always loved singing/humming, but he typically only sings out the words at the end of each phrase. It's so cute!

**It's audio only because I was rocking him before bed.

Working.

Right now Lily and Levi love to work on their computers (well, Levi's is a cash register, but he doesn't mind since it makes noise. ha!).

So silly.
Asher likes to be where ever they are just hanging out, watching them play.

6 months.

Sweet Asher-boy is 6 months old today! Where has the time gone?!

Here's what he's been up to lately -
  • Rolling over, both directions.
  • Sitting pretty well. We have to be right there with him so he doesn't topple over.
  • He wears 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diaper.
  • He probably weighs around 15lbs, but I'm not for sure.
  • Eating. He loves it! So far he's tried avocado, sweet potato and banana. He loves it all.
  • He still takes 5 bottles each day.
  • He takes a long morning and afternoon nap and then a short snooze around suppertime.
  • He is sleeping great at night.
  • He loves to sit in the walker and play with toys.
  • He intently watches everything that goes on around him.
  • Loud noises bother him.
We are so thankful for this precious boy!
