Moving Day in Hick-County, AL

Your eyes are not deceiving you - there are SIX mattresses stacked on top of that car. LOL!

I should mention, that this was a random car we saw on the road - it was not us moving!

27 weeks

27 weeks with Lily (left) and Baby Boy (right)

I'm feeling pretty good. This was a really rough week though. Lily has had a cold all week on top of cutting 3 teeth! Yes, that makes for much loss of sleep, lots of grumpiness, and loss of patience. Thankfully today was a much better day, and I'm hoping and praying she is on the mend!

Ya'll have a great weekend!

Random Recent Pictures

I love this picture! Aren't Lily's bloomers the cutest thing ever? A sweet mom of two children in one of Jacob's youth orchestras (wow, what an explanation! ha!) monogrammed 4 different pairs of bloomers for Lily! I just love them! She has an Etsy shop, and really does fabulous work!

This little girl is pulling up on everything and trying to walk while holding on. She's a mess!

I'm in love with this little chair at Target (and the little girl too)!

Not sure what to think of our midwife's big dog. My parents have 3 or 4 Great Pyrenees - they are awesome farm dogs!

"Won't you puh-leaseee help me up??!!" Ha!

Goofy girl!

Hope ya'll have a great Thursday!

25 & 26 weeks

So I have been really slack in taking pictures of my baby belly, but I'm trying to do better! I want to have pictures to watch how JJ (and mommy) grow to compare to the pictures when I was pregnant with Lily.

26 weeks pregnant with Lily (left) and JJ (right)

To be honest, I. feel. HUGE. Yes, I know I'm not that big, but I guess the feeling has to do with it being the second pregnancy and seeing that my muscles didn't really have much time to recover/tone before I got pregnant again.

Strangers are just now starting to ask if I'm pregnant again. I think everyone thought I was just still carrying a baby pooch from Lily. Ha! Of course when I answer that yes I am pregnant, people hardly know what to say. I just say, yes, I have an 8 month old, and yes, I am 6 months pregnant... and yes! I'm happy about it.

I'm feeling pretty good overall. I do seem to have more back aches and cramping this time. I think most of it is due to toting Lily around as well as JJ. I'm exercising and drinking Red Raspberry tea everyday just like I did when I was pregnant with Lily.

Hope ya'll have a fabulous weekend!

Lily's Big Toe Scoot

I couldn't resist posting this video of Lily scooting. It's so funny! Oh, and please ignore the mess of stuff behind me - we're in the process of rearranging.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Reason for MIA

I'm not sure if I mentioned that my Etsy shop, Kelly Joy Boutique, is a sponsor for the Christian women's blogging conference, Relevant, in October. It's an awesome opportunity, but it means that I've been super-de-duper busy!

Each attendee will receive a brooch from my shop in their swag bag!  I've been working all. the. time. to get 250 brooches finished! I have about 100 more to sew, then I have to cover 250 buttons, cut out 250 circles of felt, and sew 250 pinbacks onto the felt... and I have 37 days to get it done! AH!

I know it's all going to get done, but I probably won't be posting a ton on my blog in the next few weeks. With keeping up with my home, taking care of Lily, filling orders from my shop, and finishing up the brooches, I don't have a lot of time for "extras" right now.

Hopefully I won't get too behind on posting pictures and reading all of your blogs... we'll see.

And just to share a funny story about Lily... she was supposed to be taking a nap the other day, and I seriously thought she was asleep because I heard nothing over the monitor, but when I went to check on her, I found that she'd been pulling clothes and shoes out of the bag beside her crib!

I couldn't believe she was so quiet and had been occupying herself for so long. Funny girl!

Pulling UP and a Prayer Request

One day last week I walked into the nursery to get Lily up from her nap and I found her like this! That's when I decided it was time to put the side of the crib up.

Today she was supposed to be napping when she suddenly started screaming. I ran in to see what was wrong and found her like this! I don't think she could figure out how to get back down. Ha.

I'm afraid this lil' stinker is going to be walking soon. After her nap she was pulling up on the kitchen drawers and the bookshelves in our living room!

Jacob's PawPaw has been in the hospital since Friday with some blockages in his heart. He was transferred to a larger hospital in a city about 40 minutes away today. Unfortunately the blockages are in main arteries that he had open heart surgery on years ago, so it's extremely risky to do surgery. Also, his kidneys are only functioning at 30%.

Please just pray for wisdom for the decisions that have to be made in the next day or so, peace and comfort for the family, and healing for PawPaw (if it's God's will).

We know that the time may be drawing near for him to meet his Savior and see his dear wife again. This is all just so sudden. Last week he was beating men 20 years younger than him in games of golf.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers!

Labor Day Weekend Recap

On Friday night Jacob, Lily, and I went to Five Guys for supper and ended up running into Jacob's siblings and a friend of ours. We joined them and had a yummy supper.

Saturday was the big War Between the States reenactment in our town. My family has participated in it for the last 15 or so years! My Dad dresses up as a Chaplain and hands out tons of Gospel literature from "back then." Lily wore the dress my Mom made for my little brother to wear 12 years ago. You know both boys and girls wore dresses until they were like 3 years old.

I got all decked out in a hoop skirt for about 4 hours, but then I had to change because it was cutting off circulation to my baby belly. Ha!

Lily had a great time hanging out with her aunts and uncles (from both sides). I don't think she knew what to think at first of all of us dressed up in such funny looking clothes.

Aunt Katie talking to Lily

My handsome bro, Luke, fought in the Confederate army (of course!).

My lil' bro was a flag bearer

Jacob and his brother fought too, until they ran out of powder. So they "died" and got picked up by the medics. Ha.

This is the only picture I got of the battle because I was toting Lily around and there were so many people there it was hard to get a good spot to get a picture. Jacob, Judah, and Luke are in the group of soldiers in the background.

Lily actually fell asleep half way through the battle and slept for about an hour. I guess the gunshots and cannon booms were soothing to her?!

I know my Dad looks goofy in this picture, but I wanted to put it up anyway. He makes all kinds of animal noises and Lily loves it!

Lily woke up quite happy from her nap so she sat with YaYa and looked pretty for lots of people taking pictures.

On Sunday morning we had our church service at the reenactment, 1860's style. Then we enjoyed a long Sunday afternoon of sleeping and relaxing.

Monday we were busy running around getting together with family and friends. I completely forgot to take any pictures. Ugh, mommy brain!

Hope ya'll had a fabulous weekend!

8 months

My precious little girl turned 8 months on September 1st! The days are flying by so fast and I am trying to enjoy every minute with my baby!

So what is Lily up to??
  • Scooting everywhere! No crawling yet, but I don't think that's too far in the future.
  • Pushing herself up from her belly to sitting.
  • Trying to pull up to stand.
  • Talking all the time! She says: Da-Da, Uh-oh, ByeBye (with waving), and Ba-Ba (bottle). She doesn't always do these on command, but alot of times. Ha!
  • She loves doing patty-cake and clapping for herself.
  • She's wearing size 3 diapers and mostly 6 months clothes. Sometimes she'll still fit in 3-6 months though.
  • She takes 3-6oz bottles each day and a 8oz one at bedtime and she eats 3 meals each day and usually has couple snacks.
  • She has one tooth cutting through on top and another one on the bottom. Poor baby has been kind of miserable the last few weeks!
  • She loves to eat! We're trying lots of new foods and she has yet to turn anything away.
  • She is a pro at stuffing Puffs or pieces of food in her mouth! Ha!
  • She still takes two long naps every day and she sleeps great at night.
  • She's wakened up several times lately with nightmares/night terrors. It's scary for us too!
  • She's definitely reached the stage of wanting Mommy all the time. I don't mind at all because I know it will soon pass and she'll be Miss Independent.
  • She puts everything in her mouth so we have to watch her like a hawk!
These pictures were taken at our local reenactment this weekend...hence the reason she's dressed in old timey clothes. I'll post more about it tomorrow!

Violin vs. Fiddle

When we were in Canada Jacob got asked to show the difference between a violin and a fiddle. Hope you enjoy!
