I love to hear Scripture quoted, but more precious is children hiding God's Word in their hearts. People used to tell me that children couldn't memorize Scripture, they were too young. I proved them wrong with all six of my children. They could memorize sections, not just a verse here or there. Praise the Lord that you are working diligently with your children. It will NOT return void! Hallelujah!
That's just precious! We started working with our Levi at about 18 months with simple verses like Ephesians 6:1, and we were amazed at how quickly he caught on. Around the time he turned three, we decided to begin to try to teach him larger portions of Scripture. We began with Psalm 23. We quoted it together every night as part of our family devotions and other times throughout the day. After about three months, he had learned it well enough to quote it at the Mother's Day banquet at my aunt's church! My aunt is the pastor's wife, and she used it as an example of how much our children are taking in, and how important it is to teach them the right things, especially the things of God.
After a while, we added more Scriptures, and now, at almost four, he can quote Psalm 1, 23, and 100 nearly perfectly. BUT, through all of the repetitiveness of it all, our ONE YEAR OLD has picked up on it. He still needs a tiny bit of help, but he can quote nearly all of Psalm 23 and 100. It just floored me that he could memorize so much! And it also humbled me. What a wonderful honor it is to share God's Word with our children.
My husband also pointed out that through teaching them these Scriptures, we are refreshing them to our own memory.
Just wanted to encourage you to keep working with them. It's so precious to hear their sweet voiced reciting the promises the Lord has made to us! And they will never, ever get over it!!
I just mapped it and we will only be a couple hours from you when we move! We will have to meet up sometime! It's crazy because I will be so close to so many of my blogger friends!
I love this! Thank you for sharing! They are such dolls. :-D
