Asher turns 1!

Mr. Asher turned 1, oh, over a month ago. Life has been so busy I haven't had a chance to post about it. His birthday was the during the week between the two weddings, so his actual birthday was kind of in the midst of doing laundry and planning and packing for the next trip.
The morning of his first birthday.

Excited about his oatmeal for breakfast. Ha!

He weighs about 18lbs.

He wears 9-12 month clothes and size 3 shoes.

He says Dada, Mama, Yaya (my mom), sissy, baba (bottle), bye bye, hey and maybe a few other words.

He folds his hands when we say it's time to pray.

He takes a 5-10 steps on his own and walks everywhere pushing things, but hasn't built up the courage to take off really walking.

He and Levi are sleeping in the same room full time now (naps and night time).

He loves bathtime.

He plays well independently.

He's finally getting over his very clingy to momma stage. Very thankful to be able to leave him with the babysitter or grandparent's and him not scream the entire time.

He still takes 2 naps each day and sleeps about 12 hours at night.

We had a little family party for him on the Sunday night after the second wedding.

*Major mommy fail - I was holding the cupcake with the lit candle and we were about to sing to him. I asked my brother-in-law to take some pictures on my phone. I got distracted and looked away from Asher and the cupcake when I was telling my bro-in-law the security code on my phone, and Asher grabbed the candle and burned his little hand. I felt so bad! Thankfully my sister doused his hand in lavender oil and it didn't even blister.

He didn't want anything to do with his cupcake right away, but he warmed up to it after awhile.

Yum!

Love this sweet little guy!

11 months.

How can my baby be almost a year already?!
He wears 9 month clothes, although some one piece pants outfits are too short on him.

He still takes 3 6oz bottles during the day and 1 8oz at night.

He seriously loves food! Anything I put in front of him, he eats. He is still grain free except for the few stray cheerios and bits of bread crusts he's found under the table after his brother and sister have eaten. :)

He crawls so fast and is cruising around the furniture, but he doesn't seem to be interested in walking alone yet. He loves to push things around and walk behind them.

He still takes two naps each day and sleeps from about 7:30 - 7:00 at night.

He is such a momma's boy. Seriously, if I go out of the room or if someone else holds him he has a come apart. It's pretty ridiculous. At home he's fine, and plays well with Lily and Levi. He also won't take his bottle from anyone but momma...not even daddy. Whenever I leave him with our babysitter or grandparents, he's a hot mess. Makes me so sad! I'm praying this stage is over soon.

He has 4 teeth and has 2 more about to pop through.

He needs to move up to the convertible carseat, but we need to get Lily and new one and then he'll get her old one.
He loves going in the bathroom. Ugh! We try to remember to close the door, but if we happen to forget, we can count on finding him playing in the potty. So gross!

He loves music. He'll sit and watch/listen to Jacob play his violin for the longest time.

He likes to read. His favorite books are the animal ones that have little patches of fur that you can feel.

Yes, I give him whole pieces of fruit to eat. He'll sit in his highchair for the longest time gnawing on apples and pears.

No matter how many times I sweep, this rascal will still scrounge around and find leftovers on the floor.

We love you, sweet Asher-boy!

9 & 10 months.

For some reason I got it stuck in my head that I had done a 9 month post for Asher, but when I went and looked just now, I realized I never did one. Oops.

He is a mover! He can speed scoot (army crawl) and he's getting faster at actual crawling. He goes all over the house chasing Lily and Levi and sneaking into the bathroom whenever we accidentally leave the door open.

He's pulling up on everything. He can also push things and walk after them.

He's a great sleeper - 1 1/2 hour morning nap, 1 1/2 hour afternoon nap, and 12 hours at night. When he wakes up, he usually just plays in his crib until I go get him.

He takes his afternoon nap in the pack and play in our room because he and Levi disturb each other when they are trying to nap together. They do fine at night thankfully.

He wears mostly 9 month clothes.

He weighs 18lbs.

His smiles are the sweetest.

Everything goes in his mouth. We have to watch him like a hawk because Lily and Levi have some small toys that Asher will get if we're not careful. I'm constantly digging things out of his mouth...a piece of felt, dog food, left over food from under the table (before I've had the chance to sweep).

Poor child's socks rarely match his outfit. :-/

He is ready to move up to the convertible carseat, and I am certainly ready to not have to lug around the infant seat. We are planning to get Lily a new seat so Asher can have her old one.

He is a mama's boy through and through. He's not a big fan of others holding him (when mama's in view) or mama leaving him.

He has 4 teeth - two on top and two on the bottom.

He eats so much! He still takes 4 bottles each day and eats solids 3 times. He loves to feed himself and is doing great with his pincer grasp and hand/eye coordination. He still eats anything I give him and enjoys gnawing on raw carrots and apples. So far he is still grain-free...except for the piece of animal cracker he snatched from Levi and gobbled up before I could dig it out of his mouth. ha.

Little man is growing up way too fast!
I'm thankful for this little guy!

8 months.

Sweet Asher turned 8 months old on November 11. Yes, I'm behind...
He is a busy, busy boy! He scoots (army crawls) everywhere. I regularly find him in the bathroom, down the hall, in the kid's rooms, or in the kitchen (when I'm cooking he always comes to be with me.)

He puts stuff in his mouth. I dug a artificial flower bud out of his mouth, as well as a heart-shaped tag from a beanie baby.

He loves to eat! He still takes 4 bottles each day and eats three meals. So far he hasn't turned away any food I've offered him.
He is such a mama's boy right now. Like, seriously, if I'm out of sight (when we are out and about), he is very unhappy.

He still takes 2 naps each day and sleeps 11-12 hours at night.

He likes to "talk" and blow bubbles.

He has one tooth all the way in and I can feel three others ready to pop through. Teething has been hard on him.

He wear's 6-9 month clothes and size 3 diapers.
Love you, sweet boy!

7 months.

What is Mr. Asher up to at 7 months old?
  • Scooting and rolling everywhere, but no crawling yet.
  • Drooling and drooling and drooling. Hopefully some teeth pop through before too long!
  • Sitting pretty well.
  • Chewing on everything! No, he doesn't suck his thumb, but he chews on it.
  • Eating. This child seriously loves to eat! He takes 4 bottles a day as well as eating 3 meals and sometimes a snack before bed. He hasn't turned away any food yet. He just gobbles up whatever we offer!
  • So far he's eaten - applesauce, pears, avocados, green beans, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, egg yolks, pumpkin, squash, chicken, and banana. I'm attempting to keep him grain-free until he's at least a year old. I didn't do this with Lily or Levi, but from stuff I've read, it's best for their digestive system.
  • Weighs 16lbs, wears size 3-6 and 6 month clothes, size 2 shoes, and size 3 diapers.
  • Sleeps like a champ! Usually two 1 1/2-2 hour naps each day and 11-12 hours at night (straight through).
  • He's been sleeping in his crib in Levi's room for awhile now. He usually wakes up before Levi in the morning, so I sneak in and get him so Levi can snooze a little longer. Asher takes some of his naps in the co-sleeper still. It just depends on how the day is going.
Asher, we are so thankful for you! You are a sweet little man, and we love you!

6 months.

Sweet Asher-boy is 6 months old today! Where has the time gone?!

Here's what he's been up to lately -
  • Rolling over, both directions.
  • Sitting pretty well. We have to be right there with him so he doesn't topple over.
  • He wears 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diaper.
  • He probably weighs around 15lbs, but I'm not for sure.
  • Eating. He loves it! So far he's tried avocado, sweet potato and banana. He loves it all.
  • He still takes 5 bottles each day.
  • He takes a long morning and afternoon nap and then a short snooze around suppertime.
  • He is sleeping great at night.
  • He loves to sit in the walker and play with toys.
  • He intently watches everything that goes on around him.
  • Loud noises bother him.
We are so thankful for this precious boy!

5 months.

Asher turned 5 months on Saturday. Can't believe how fast this little man is growing!
  • He still drinks about 7-7 1/2 oz of goat's milk formula every 3-4 hours and a 9 oz bottle before bed.
  • He sleeps from about 8:30pm to 6:30am. He is still sleeping in the co-sleeper beside our bed. I'm hoping he will start sleeping to 7 or 7:30 soon and then he'll move to share Levi's room. Levi needs to sleep longer than 6:30am and I'm afraid if I put Asher in there now, he'll wake Levi up early in the morning.
  • He weighs about 14lbs and wears 3-6 month clothes.
  • He squeals and talks a ton.
  • This week he's finally past the fussy phase that he was in for several weeks! This Mama is so thankful! He's happily playing in the bouncy seat, on the play mat, or on a blanket. Such a blessing!
  • He loves chewing on his fingers, toes, and anything else he can manage to get to his mouth.
  • He is very attentive to everything going on around him.
  • He loves to look at books with mama or brother and sissy.
  • He really enjoys being outside. He got his first mosquito bites this past weekend. Poor baby!
  • He sweats so bad!
We are so thankful for our sweet little man!
