Lily's First Bad Fall

My poor little girl tripped and fell out our side door onto the concrete. I wasn't at home at the time, but when I saw her sweet banged up face, I cried.

She didn't seem too bothered by it. Jacob said that she screamed for like 10 seconds when it happened and then was fine. Precious girl fell asleep on the play area rug (which she never does) but that's the only abnormal thing we noticed.

Unfortunately it happened the day before we were leaving on a weekend trip to visit family and friends that we hardly ever see. I guess that's the way it goes - growing up, it seemed like someone always got hurt right before we were going to get a family picture. Ha! All the scrapes scabbed over and looked just lovely for our trip. We had been planning to go to a beautiful park to take pictures of the kids, but we just nixed that idea.

Her face is all healed up now, and I don't think she's going to have any scars. Those little accidents really make your mama-heart hurt! {sniff}

  1. Oh, poor baby! Both of you!!

    I know exactly how you feel. Matty fell out of our door at about Lily's age. We don't have a porch or anything, and he fell away from the steps, not down them, and landed face first on the concrete. I watched it all happen in slow motion. I was convinced he was going to be paralyzed or something because his body went forward while he was on his face. I even had nightmares about it. He's fallen our a couple more times since then, but not nearly as bad. We're working on getting a porch now, so hopefully that will protect him and keep Eli from following in big brother's footsteps...or footfalls.

    So glad she's okay. She looks so pitiful!

  2. Oh, poor little one. I fell out my sliding glass door when I was a baby. Bounced out the door and down the step while in my walker. I am thankful she wasn't hurt and that she's healing.

  3. Christian's face looks JUST like this right now! It's the exact same spots-he face planted on our deck :-( It breaks a mama's heart!

  4. After dealing with the 7 yo having a scooter wreck and the 5 yo getting a chunk scraped out of her toe this past week, I have to say it will probably only be the first of many! And your mama heart never stops hurting for them. :-( The good news is they usually do turn out okay, but it still doesn't make it easier!

  5. Poor Lily..and Mama! When we were growing up my brother Geoff would fall and scape the front of his nose (I mean like almost all of it) and it would happen EVERY SUMMER without fail until he was like in high school.

    Glad your little one is ok!

  6. My brother had his ear nearly ripped off by our dog when we were younger the night before we were leaving on our first trip to Oklahoma to visit family. You're right - that is exactly when something seems to happen! Poor girl!

  7. Awww...I remember Gracie's first bad boo-boo. I think it's definitely harder on the mommas than it is on the little ones! It's tough seeing your baby hurt! I'm glad it healed up quickly!
