Midweek Randoms
- Sweet Lily has not been feeling well since Sunday - yucky cough and runny nose. Her favorite thing to do is have "quiet time" on our bed with her baby doll, dress up stuff, and books. She seemed some better today, so I'm hoping she's on the mend.
- It has been so warm the last couple days! We went to the park today and played outside in the yard this afternoon. So fun!
- I splurged tonight and had my favorite snack! Oh how good it was! I haven't been eating a lot of chocolate lately because it seems to give me indigestion when I'm pregnant. Thankfully it didn't cause a big flare up.
- I made these Mini Meatloaves for supper last night. They are delicious! Even my hubby who isn't a meatloaf lover thought they were amazing! I doubled the recipe to freeze and we enjoyed the leftovers tonight.
- Levi is at the age where he loves pulling everything out - all the books off the shelves, all containers dumped out, etc. Although it makes a huge mess, there is an upside. He will sit on the "toy rug" for up to 45 minutes playing by himself. It is amazing! Mid-morning I will sit him on the rug and tell him that it's time for him to play. He will just sit there and look at books and dump out all the toys. Lily sometimes plays with him and other times she'll play with her babies in her room. I'm thankful for that time to get breakfast cleaned up, laundry started, etc.
- My kids seem to play better when the area is cleaned up, so every night I try to clean/straighten it up so they wake up to a neat play area. Lily picks up her play kitchen stuff before she goes to bed each night, but it's nearly impossible to pick up when Levi's awake. He likes picking stuff up, but he thinks we're only picking up so he can immediately dump out again. Ha!
- Hope you all are having a wonderful week!
I also try to straighten up each night! I find the day just starts out better for everyone if there is some order from the start.
ReplyDeleteOne rule we made after #2 was born was that before bed each night the kitchen would be clean - spotless clean. If nothing else got cleaned before bed,the kitchen would be clean. If toys were all over in one area, the kitchen would be clean. Why? We start our day in the kitchen so starting it off in order starts the day out in order. It has been working well for us so far! It also helps me remember that I don't have to keep a spotless house - I need to do what is within my means and some nights that means I only pick up the kitchen and I have learned to be fine with that!
Ha! Levi and Deb would get along great! She's big into dumping out toys, and then "putting them away" in new places. Thankfully, we don't have that many toys so it doesn't take too long to get things picked up. This age is so much fun because they are learning and exploring. :)
ReplyDeleteYour play area looks just like mine does everyday. Toys everywhere!! We've started a nightly routine with the girls where I get our "clean-up" basket and walk through the house picking up all the toys to take back to the playroom. They know what time it is when I grab the basket and get excited. Saves my back from picking up all the toys too. I put the playroom back together after they're in bed so they can destroy it in the morning. The joy of parenthood :)
ReplyDeleteGet better Miss Lily! Sweet hugs from your friends H&S!
Great photo's. :)
ReplyDeleteBabies and young cats seem to have that in common...as Penny (the cat) also sees picking stuff up as a great excuse to dump it onto the floor again.
I told my mother having a cat is good practice for future children, based as cats are always into things too AND I have to carry her about so I can do things one handed now. :P
Wishing Lilly a speedy recovery!
My Nellie (13 months) would be a good playmate for Levi...although we'd have a gigantic mess on our hangs after they were through!:)
ReplyDeleteHope Miss Lily gets well soon too! So sad when they're sick (but I do love to tuck them into a cozy "nest" when sickness makes them more snuggly than usual:)
My girls have had the cough and nose thing too. First Lainey and now Kyndra has it but not as bad. Hopefully this is it for winter sickness!
ReplyDeletePoor Lily! I hope she feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteMan, toys can get CRAZY around here if we're not on top of it... I love this stage of exploration/discovery, too- but it does make for messes. I'm OK with that, though. I have such few, precious moments with my little one being so small, so those messes can wait. :)
Does Levi like to "help" clean up? Margot loves putting toys away before nap/bed. She likes being apart of the helping!
