We had a fun-filled, busy weekend! Jacob was out of town from early Friday morning until late Saturday night. Being a "single" parent wasn't easy, but we all survived and had a good time!
Friday was my Mom's birthday. My sister planned to come over for a picnic lunch and egg hunt, so we invited my parents and brother as well as another young mom from church with her little boy. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time soaking up the sunshine. It was so funny to see what the different aged kids thought of the egg hunt - my 3 year old nephew got really into running around finding eggs, 2 year old Lily enjoyed finding them with a little encouragement along the way, the 1 and 1 1/2 year old little guys were either not interested at all or just sat and played with the eggs after they were found.
We pulled out the little four wheeler for the kids to drive around too. Our neighbors gave it to us right after Lily was born and we've had it in the shed since then. Jacob got it out a couple weeks ago and let Lily and Levi try it out. Of course they love it! Thankfully it has different speed settings so they just creep around the yard. Lily has no clue how to steer. Ha! It's hilarious to watch her (and Levi for that matter) drive!
Friday night I packed up the kids and went to my parents for a yummy pizza and salad supper and playing on the farm. I can't believe that I didn't manage to get even one picture of my Mom on her birthday! So sad!
Petting the goats
I woke up at 6:00am on Saturday morning and realized that Asher had slept the entire night...and was still sleeping! He'd been waking up every 3ish hours through the night pretty much since he was born, so of course I had to check and make sure he was breathing. Ha!
We got out of the house early and met my sister, nephew, brother and Myra's mother-in-law at a spring festival.
There were tons of vendors, a train ride, a playground area, pony rides, and a huge chalkboard for the kids to draw on. Lily and Levi really enjoyed it!
I'm so thankful my brother came along! I couldn't have managed without his awesome help! Yes, I got one of those leash thingys for Lily. Not so much to keep her from running away from me, but to keep her from getting lost in the crowd. Myra's mother-in-law also helped a lot with Asher when I was occupied with the other two. Such a blessing!
The kids fell asleep in the car on the way home but they woke up when I put them in their beds. I was hoping they would settle back down and sleep, but then I heard Lily calling, "Mama, I need foooood!" Ha! They just had a little snack at the festival and it was past lunch time once we got home. I got them up and fed them, but by that time, no one was interested in taking a nap. Oh well.
I loaded them up once again and headed to the grocery store. As you can tell from the picture, it was a crazy trip, but we managed! The kids were actually pretty well behaved for only having a little snooze in the car. They made this mama proud! :)
I was so glad when Jacob got home late Saturday night! Unfortunately his brother had gotten a stomach bug during the trip, and Jacob woke up Sunday morning feeling sick. He stayed in bed all day and is feeling much better today. Thankfully the kids and I haven't come down with anything yet. We are praying that we've been spared!
Hope y'all had a fabulous weekend!

Oh, Kelly! You've got your hands full!! Do you have a sling or a wrap? That would make shopping so much easier on you! Just an idea...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you managed okay while Jacob was away! Your grocery store picture is intimidating... :) I still get nervous about dragging my two along to the store, I just can't predict how it's going to go! I love the last picture. They are such beautiful children!
ReplyDeleteI remember when I was going to have a third child I often worried because I only had "two hands"! Ha! I truly thought that I would never manage three kids...but I did of course!
ReplyDeleteThe wraps do look handy so that you can have your hands free. But I always wonder how easy it is to get the baby in them when you don't have help? But the idea is a good one.
So, how did you do two carts? Push one and pull the other? Bless your heart!
I always tried to help my girls when I could, either by keeping the kids so they could go shopping, or I would go with them to help. Or...sometimes I would drive the one daughter's 4 kids around town all buckled in their car seats, and we would just drop momma off at the door to shop and in a certain amount of time we would come back and pick their momma up.
It helped that Grandma had a big van with a DVD player, and they could watch movies! (:>) This worked great until they got old enough to unbuckle their seat belts and climb out of their car seats! Yikes...I remember the stress just talking about it! Ha!
It can def be tiring when it's just you taking care of it all. Makes you appreciate when your DH is around more!!
ReplyDeleteKelly, you are amazing and have an incredibly joyful attitude. Love reading your updates! God has certainly blessed you. I see a few comments about wearing the baby in a wrap. I'm told its simple but I have NEVER been able to pull it off! :)

ReplyDeleteYou are amazing Kelly! I have been whining all month about being pregnant and dealing with just one child while my husband is out of town for 4 days at the end of the month. Then I see this post and how beautifully you handle three little ones. You amaze me! I needed the perspective!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on Asher sleeping through the night! That's awesome. Also, I cannot imagine a trip to the store with your crew. You truly are supermom, Kelly! Feel free to write a SUPER MOM MANUAL in the next few years before I am juggling three little ones. I'd appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm terrified at the thought of taking 2 into the store, I can't imagine 3 that young and surviving the store. It looks like you kept yourself and the kids busy while you were along which always helps the time go by faster. You are definately inspiriting.
