Dear Friends

I would like to ask you to pray for my family right now. Tomorrow (Monday) my dear sweet Memaw will undergo a very risky surgery to put a feeding tube into her stomach. We found out on Friday that her esophagus is completely blocked and she has no way of getting food or drink unless she gets the feeding tube. The doctor was very honest with us about chance of her making it through the surgery, but he believes (as does the family) that this is the best option for her. {the photo above was taken Thursday before we knew that the liquids she was drinking weren't making it to her stomach}

**UPDATE - Memaw was unable to have surgery this morning because she has pneumonia. Please pray that she will have quick healing so surgery won't be postponed too long.

From a medical standpoint, it looks as though we are in the last days (weeks) of her life, but we're not going to discount her stubbornness...which we joke has gotten her to the ripe old age of 97 1/2 years. :)

Memaw's wish is to be at home. We are praying that she will be able to recover from the surgery enough to get her home to spend her last days there.

Our hearts are heavy. It is never easy to say goodbye, but we are thankful for the hope and comfort we have through Christ.

I sing this song to my babes every night, but tonight I sang it to Memaw.

Jesus loves me! this I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong,
They are weak, but He is strong.

Jesus loves me! loves me still,
Tho I'm very weak and ill;
From His shining throne on high,
Watches o'er me where I lie.

Jesus loves me! He will stay
Close beside me all the way;
If I trust Him, when I die
He will take me home on high.

Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me,
The Bible tells me so.

  2. Her smile in these pictures says it all. I met her only once -- at your wedding, and she is an unforgettable lady. It's so easy to sing Jesus Loves Me and not meditate on the words, but when you take the time to just read the words, it's a powerful and glorious message. Thanks for sharing.

  8. I will keep your family in my prayers. My mother is under hospice care, they said back in February that she would only live another 4 - 6 months, she can't hardly eat anything either. So I kind of know what you are going through.
