Lynnette over at Dancing Barefoot on Weathered Ground is hosting "Getting To Know You" for all her readers to link up their blogs so we can all get to know each other better. I think it's an awesome idea!
So here are 10 random (I don't know how random these are, but whatever) facts about me:
1. My hubby and I started dating, got engaged and got married all within 4 months! To read our "story" go here.
This is one of our engagement pictures
2. I have a super close (and crazy) family and hope it always stays that way!
My parents, all 5 siblings + Jacob (my hubby) and Ridley (my sister, Myra's baby). Myra's hubby had to work otherwise he would be in this picture.
See what I mean about crazy?! Ha.
3. I love to cook and bake and try new recipes, but I rarely follow a recipe completely. I like to add my own touch to it!
4. We are expecting our first baby in December! I'm 19 weeks along and the baby is about the size of a large mango. We don't have good health insurance (at all) so I can't have the baby in the hospital. Since midwives and home births are illegal in Alabama (where we live) we're traveling to Tennessee to a midwife clinic to have our baby.
5. Jacob and I decided to try our hand at square foot gardening this year.
This is what our garden looked like after we planted it (that's our chocolate lab watching over)
After only 1 month it looked like this!
Then a few weeks later we had a hail storm and now it looks like this! We've had lots of tomatoes and squashini (the squash and zucchini cross-pollinated). But most of the other stuff we planted got run over by the giant squash and tomato plants.
6. I work part-time from home as an administrative assistant for A&K Energy the company that does the lighting maintenance for TJMaxx, Home Goods, Marshalls, Publix, Weis, and many other stores.
7. I LOVE being a stay at home wife!
8. Jacob is a professional violinist, so I've probably been to more weddings and concerts in the last year than most people have been to in their lives! LOL. I love it though, and try to go with him to as many gigs as I can!
Us on a typical weekend
9. I love working out (I'm weird!).
10. I love love LOVE eating dark chocolate and natural peanut butter for a snack!
Head on over to Lynnette's blog to get to know lots of other bloggers!

I LOVED reading this post! You're amazing and I'm blessed that you're my sister! :)
ReplyDeleteI loved reading 10 things about you. And I too love working out. I know we're in the minority. Wow; a violinist. Did he serenade you and you couldn't resist? After all, that's a short courtship. However, my first date with my husband was August 25 and we married November 3 so I'm no one to talk. And btw, we'll be married 25 years this November.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your engagement story! You look like a cute couple and those are some gorgeous wedding photos!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet are you! YOu an adorable, first off! Secondly - what an awesome natural family photo of eveyone being crazy!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear that your health insurance isn't the greatest! One of the crummy things about this economy! I can imagine there isn't a union for the violinsts, huh :( Even with good health insurance, we paid about $3000 out of pocket, compared to the full payments of near $10,000. And that wasn't a c-section! I hope everything goes well in TN for you, I can't imagine having to travel to a different state. I didn't know that homebirths could even BE illegal!
As far as the hats go - I would most certainly like to start selling them on my blog. I first have to figure out how to set that all up (paypal etc.) But I would definitely make one for you, if you would like! I really enjoy making them and December would be the perfect time for your little newborn girl to need one :) Let me know if you're interested and I will figure out a pricing system!
Great to meet you!!Thanks for following my blog!
So great to get to know you today! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading your post & I like dark choc & peanut butter too. Thanx for the comment on my blog

It was fun to read your ten things! Congratulations on your baby and blessings for abundant provision despite the insurance situation.
ReplyDeleteA violinist! That's so interesting. Are they naturally romantic?
Great blog!
Stopping by from Lynette's to say hi. Congrats on the upcoming birth of your baby! I totally know what you mean about having horrible insurance. My hubby is in construction ( non-union at that) so we have to buy private insurance. My last pregnancy with my daughter who is now almost 17 months really opened up my eyes to what it's like to have crummy insurance. I worked with my first daughter and my coverage was so much better.
ReplyDeleteI'll say a prayer for you that the Lord will take care of your situation and give you blessings and favor. :)
Here from Lynette's. What a fun list. Except homebirths are illegal in Alabama? That's awful.
ReplyDeleteBlessings on your lovely family! :)
I love to cook and bake but hardly ever follow recipes either ha ha!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you are expecting your first baby!!
