God is SO Good!

28 weeks - Lily Grace weighs about 2 1/4 lbs...like a head of cabbage.

Last week when I had my visit with the midwife, she did a simple blood test to check my blood type. It showed that I was Rh negative. Most of you probably know the risks that causes when you're pregnant with a positive blood baby. The midwife told me that I needed to get a shot of Rhogam as soon as possible because you're supposed to have the first shot at 28 weeks and then the second shot around the time of the baby's birth.

As you probably know from some of my previous posts, we do not have health insurance. So the thought of having to get a $500 (the first shot) shot and a $2500 (the second shot) shot was pretty scary. This morning we applied for Medicaid and then headed to the hospital to get my blood tested again and then get the first shot of Rhogam.

A sweet nurse drew my blood and we waited for about 45 minutes for the results. When the nurse came back she told us that the results showed that I'm actually Rh positive!!! Jacob and I were so happy we almost started jumping up and down for joy! We have been praying (so have my parents, sister, church family, and friends) that the first test was wrong and that I would actually be positive.

I just have to say, God is so good!! He answers prayer!!

This verse was in a devotional that I read this morning. I thought it was very appropriate for me today!

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. - II Chronicles 7:14

Not Me! Monday

I cannot believe I'm admitting all these insane incidents!

When I was running short on time cooking dinner one night, I did not experiment cooking zucchini in the microwave instead of boiling it. All was going well until I added just one more minute to the cooking time. After a huge kaboom! I did not have this mess to clean up in my microwave (it was splattered all over the microwave although you can't really tell from the picture)! Nope, not me!

The other day after lunch I was sitting at the table checking my email, and I did not take out my earrings to help soothe my infected ear and set them on the table. Then I did not proceed to get out my vitamins and set them right beside the pearl earrings, all the while reading emails. I most certainly did not pick up my earrings and nearly swallow them thinking that they were my vitamins! Nope, I would never do such a ridiculous thing!

Right before going to sleep the other night, I did not fall asleep while Jacob was praying and then wake up and blurt out that the noisemaker had somehow gotten turned off, all while he was still praying. No, I would never do that!

And, last but not least...after cooking 1lb of bacon on the electric griddle to make cheese and bacon fries for a bunch of guys coming over to watch a football game, I did not unplug the coffee grinder instead of the griddle and then wonder why the house was filling with smoke. I did not nearly die about 20 minutes later when Jacob asked me if he could turn the griddle off. Only somebody with major pregnant brain would do that! But, that's not the end of the story...after letting the griddle cool I decided I was going to wash it and put it away before all the guys got to our house. Well, swift-brained me did not forget that the grease holder-thingy was completely full of grease (remember, I cooked 1lb of bacon!). I did not proceed to spill grease all over my good clothes, the kitchen cabinets, counter, and floor just minutes before company was due to arrive. Nope, not me! I must've dreamed that story up!

Caffeinated Randomness: Just Stuff

Check out these crazy-cute puppies! They have finally found their feet.

Up until a couple days ago their feet and legs sprawled out from under them (like Bambi) but now they are running around, enjoying their new found freedom!

Of course when we put them out in the yard this afternoon they started nosing around the fence to find even the smallest holes to try to squeeze out. Why is the grass always greener on the other side of the fence?

Aren't they adorable?! I just love them! It's going to be hard to sell them in a few weeks.

I wanted to let you all know that my father-in-law got home from the hospital on Wednesday night. He is doing really well, enjoying being at home that's for sure! He's just supposed to take it easy for the next few days. Thank you all so much for your prayers!

Several of you asked how Nanny (Jacob's grandma) is doing. She is doing so well! It's so amazing. She came up to the hospital with Papa (Jacob's grandfather) two times to see Jacob's dad! She is still really frail, but doing much better than we ever expected.

God has been so merciful to our family the last few weeks! We are so grateful. Thank you again for all your prayers! This song has been going through my mind all week:

Pregnancy Update: 27 weeks

Update: My father-in-law is doing much better although the doctor didn't let him go home yesterday. Lord willing he will be coming home today! Thank you so much for your prayers!!

Lily Grace weighs about 2 lbs now! About as much as an eggplant.

Wow, I cannot believe I've made it to my 100th post!! Back in March when I started blogging I truly didn't know if I would stick with it. Yes, I haven't posted a lot every week, especially in the first 12 weeks of my pregnancy when I was feeling pretty poopy.

But I have come to love blogging so much! I love sharing about our lives, but my very favorite part of blogging is all the wonderful friends I have met! Although most of us haven't met in "real life," I treasure your friendships more than you know.

Another thing I love about blogging is the prayer network that we have. I have posted prayer requests (yesterday is a good example) and so many of you have left comments that you are praying. It is wonderful that we can help bear each others burdens in this way. Thank you all for your prayers and encouragement, y'all are the best!

Update On My FIL

Thank you all so much for your prayers! God has been so good to us. My father-in-law had 2 stents put in earlier and praise the Lord, there is no heart damage! We are amazed at the goodness of our great God! In the picture below, you can see the before and after shots of his heart blockages.

He is still in CCU, but we got to see him a little while ago and he seemed in good spirits. He's pretty drugged up from all the morphine they gave him, but Lord willing, he will be moving to a private room tonight and then possibly going home tomorrow.

Please continue to keep him in your prayers as he recovers. My heart is just overflowing with joy that God spared his life today and hopefully he'll get to see his first grandbaby in a few months!
