Practice with two

Last week I got to keep this sweet little 2 year old for a day. It was so much fun! She and Lily played together so well and I got so much accomplished. I didn't think I would have such a productive day, but it turned out that I got more done while taking care of two babies than I normally do just caring for Lily. I hope this is a trend that will continue after December! Ha!

Kaitlyn was such a little mommy to Lily. She shared the toys and made sure Lily was having fun too. It really was adorable! I got brave and went to walmart and a thrift store with both girls. It was an adventure, but we had no fussing or meltdowns.

It was definitely great practice for me - although our kids will be closer together in age.

I have my ultrasound on Monday and we're having a Gender Reveal Party on Monday night (as long as the little one cooperates!) I'll post a video of the cake cutting so ya'll can see too!

CR: Pictures

We sent off our church youth group and my parent's to a week of camp in PA. Yes, my mom has been gone all week while my sister was dealing with Staph and Cellulitus in her leg, my nephew got a virus and shared it with Lily, and I'm supposed to be on bed rest keep-your-feet-up-as-much-as-possible-while-caring-for-a-6-month-old because of a cyst. Of course it would all happen while she's away - it's quite humorous now.

At least Lily has had a pretty good week! Even though she ran a fever for a few days and lost a few meals {after she'd eaten them} she was a pretty happy little girl.

Side note: her adorable outfit is from my sweet blogging friend, Kristen. Lily is waving 'thank you' to Benjamin. Ha!

She explored the entire house, including under the couch.
"Whew Mom, it's dusty under there!"

She enjoyed playing with Ridley. He's sometimes not so gentle with her, but she loves for him to come over and play!

More exploring.

Playing with the bag of diapers.

Enjoying her avocado.

Hollering for more.

Eating books. As if she didn't get enough to eat already. Ha!

PS- I would love for you to vote in the poll at the top of my blog - we'll hopefully find out whether our new baby is a boy or girl in another month or so!

Caffeinated Randomness: First Bites

We started Lily on some solid food this week. I just wanted to share the order of events the very first morning we tried rice cereal. It was also her very first time in the high chair - she looks so tiny!

"Hmm, this is new! I like new places to play."

"This is fun mom!"

"I wonder what that stuff in the bowl is?"

"Mom, what are you putting in my mouth??!!"

"Ugh, what is this nasty stuff??"

"Thanks Mom, but this stuff is disgusting! Puh-lease don't give me anymore of it anytime soon!"

Side note: I have since read that regardless of popular opinion, rice cereal is not the best solid to start babies on because it is low in protein and very high in carbs. I'm planning to give Lily sweet potatoes or avocado before anymore rice cereal.

Caffeinated Randomness: Video

I'm super busy today taking care of Lily and my sweet nephew while my sister meets with some clients so I thought I'd just post this video I took last night of Lily. Jacob has never been around when she's rolled over so this video is my proof! ha. Bless her heart, she always cries when she rolls over. I think it scares her! Please ignore my annoying squeaky/shrill voice. Ha!

Of CoffeePots & Baby Smiles

It's a known fact that my sweet hubby loves coffee. Well I do too, but I haven't been drinking it much since I was pregnant and breastfeeding, although now I'm starting to drink it a little more.

We normally make french press coffee every morning, but about a month ago Jacob got the brilliant idea to use the automatic coffee pot on mornings when he had to leave really early for work. That way we wouldn't have to get up early to boil water and grind coffee beans. We would wake up to freshly made coffee.

Anyway, the automatic pot idea only lasted maybe a week, which was fine because french press coffee is way better. Just sayin'! ha.

A few days ago I was cleaning my kitchen counters and my eyes suddenly fell upon this exotic-looking green goo growing in the coffee maker!

Major coffeemaker fail!
Unbeknownst to me, my dear husband had not cleaned out the coffee pot when he'd used it last, um...about 2 weeks ago! He for sure gets to do the honors of cleaning it now! I only got close enough to take pictures. Ha!

Look at this happy little girl! She fills my days with so much joy! Couldn't help posting a couple pictures of her.

Caffeinated Randomness: Accident

Last night was one of the scariest nights in my entire life. Jacob and I were over at my in-laws for a big surprise birthday party for my brother-in-law.

He was so surprised!
After supper all the guys (there were about 14 of them) decided to play 2-hand touch football in the front yard. They strategically set up three cars with the lights on so the yard would be lit up.

The game was going really well until my dear hubby decided to run a fastbreak (or whatever it's called) down the sideline, which happened to be the edge of the curb.
As I was watching, I knew something horrible was about to happen.
Jacob was running as fast as he could, with bare feet (because he had worn flipflops).
Someone touched him.
He lost his balance and tripped.
Crash!
He slammed extremely hard directly into the front of the pickup truck with it's lights on in the picture.
I thought he had hit his head. I thought he was dead. The full cup of water I was holding was thrown across the yard as I ran as fast as I could over to him.
Praise God he was alive!
He had actually hit his side and back against the truck. His foot was torn and bleeding, he couldn't breathe very well, and he thought he had some broken ribs. After he got up and rested, he decided that at worst his ribs were bruised or cracked. We didn't check the truck, but with as hard as Jacob hit it, I'm afraid it might've had a dent or other damage.

Thankfully we made it through the night, getting a decent amount of sleep, and he is going to the doctor for x-rays this morning.

I honestly have no idea how people make it when they lose a spouse. Last night, I saw the accident, thought my husband was dead, and had the scene replay in my mind for hours. It was horrible. I can only praise the Lord for his goodness to me and our family.

Today as I care for my dear husband, I am reminded to always be thankful for him, no matter what. And to always remember to tell him that I love him because we never know what can happen.

Caffeinated Randomness: Just Stuff

Check out these crazy-cute puppies! They have finally found their feet.

Up until a couple days ago their feet and legs sprawled out from under them (like Bambi) but now they are running around, enjoying their new found freedom!

Of course when we put them out in the yard this afternoon they started nosing around the fence to find even the smallest holes to try to squeeze out. Why is the grass always greener on the other side of the fence?

Aren't they adorable?! I just love them! It's going to be hard to sell them in a few weeks.

I wanted to let you all know that my father-in-law got home from the hospital on Wednesday night. He is doing really well, enjoying being at home that's for sure! He's just supposed to take it easy for the next few days. Thank you all so much for your prayers!

Several of you asked how Nanny (Jacob's grandma) is doing. She is doing so well! It's so amazing. She came up to the hospital with Papa (Jacob's grandfather) two times to see Jacob's dad! She is still really frail, but doing much better than we ever expected.

God has been so merciful to our family the last few weeks! We are so grateful. Thank you again for all your prayers! This song has been going through my mind all week:
God is so good!
God is so good!
God is so good!
He's so good to me!

Go ahead and sing it. It will lift your spirits immensely!

Caffeinated Randomness: Life of Late

As I mentioned earlier in the week, we have been keeping a 15 month old little girl. She has been keeping me so busy, but we've been having tons of fun! In the beginning I was only supposed to keep her Tuesday and Wednesday, but it's turned out that I'm keeping her until tomorrow night! I don't mind at all. I love the opportunity!

Here's a recap of what we've done the last few days. Of course there are bunches of pictures. ha!

We've played outside a ton since the weather has been so nice!

She loves snack time...chocolate chip cookies are the best messy-face makers!

I've enjoyed naptime. ha! I seriously found her asleep like this one day. My sister tells me this is the way I used to sleep.

We went to Walmart and got some magnetic letters. She loves playing with them!

We also got sidewalk chalk and drew pictures for "Uncle Jacob" to see when he got home from teaching.

We ran a bunch of errands and she got worn out! Do you like her hairbow? You should have seen all the attention she got because of it. ha!

We've gone for lots of walks around the neighborhood

Such a fun and happy little girl!

It's bath time now, so I'd better go. Hope y'all have a Happy Friday!!! For more Caffeinated Randomness visit Under Grace and Over Coffee.
