We had a busy but good weekend! On Friday night Jacob had a wedding so I was home alone with Lily. A pretty bad thunderstorm came blowing through around 5 o'clock and it knocked the power out for about 40 minutes. Thankfully it came back on in time for me to warm Lily's bottle so we didn't have to go anywhere to warm it up!
I was sitting in the living room feeding Lily right around 6 o'clock. The storm had passed, and it was quiet and still outside. All of the sudden I heard a splitting, cracking, falling noise and I looked out the window to see part of the Bradford Pear tree in our front yard crashing to the ground! Thankfully there was no damage done even though it barely missed Jacob's car! It tree looks pretty dorky now, but oh well.
We had a busy Memorial Day! For lunch we headed over to Jacob's PawPaw's house. Bunches of family and friends came in honor of PawPaw for his service in the army.
We watched the slideshow that Jacob put together for Nanny's funeral. I loved this sweet picture of Lily and PawPaw.
Lily was pretty much the star of the show. She was so good too- which was a relief to her mommy and daddy! ha!
Jacob smoked this amazing brisket for supper at my parents! It was soo good!
Jacob's family joined all my family as well as Myra's mother-in-law and my Memaw. We ate in Memaw's carport. We were talking politics because our state primary election was today. I know I look bored. I really wasn't. Ha!
My precious girl was kinda fussy during the first part of this get together because she missed her late afternoon nap. Thankfully after she had her bottle she was much better behaved!
My family's picture - Take 1 (LOL!!)
Take 2 - much better except for Lily. ha!
Lily loved swinging in Memaw's swing.
Then we got a picture of Jacob's family. Of course Lily wasn't looking at the camera for this one either. ha.
Lily loved being in Ridley's stroller. She's such a goofy little girl!
I decided to paint her toe nails for the first time yesterday. They were soo cute!
Lily and her sweet Aunt Myra.
All the guys started shooting off fireworks and dry ice bombs. Everytime there was a loud noise Lily just started cackling! It was hilarious.
Have ya'll ever made dry ice bombs (or heard them blow up)?? They are insane! You fill up empty water bottles or coke bottles with dry ice then you pour in some water, screw the top on reallllly fast, shake up the bottle and throw it verrry far away from you! Then wait with your fingers in your ears until it blows! This is what the root beer bottle looked like after the explosion. Pretty crazy, huh?!!
I hope y'all had a wonderful Memorial Day!

Looks like a fun weekend! I've always thought it was so nice the way you and your family always get together on weekends!
ReplyDeletelooks like a wonderful weekend!! :) I love all the photos!! :)
ReplyDeleteAw, what a great way to spend Memorial Day! Such cute shots! I just love Lily's smile in that shot with her sweet auntie. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that your families are all so close! Loved the pics!!
ReplyDeleteGlad the tree missed the car and the house! It's great that you all can get together and enjoy each other's company. Sometimes our two families get together too. I've never heard of the dry ice bombs. Interesting! That's something my hubby would prolly like to try lol
